Boston Children’s Hospital was among the top-ranked children’s hospitals in the U.S. News and World Report 2016-2017. The 395-bed children’s hospital was ranked nationally in 10 pediatric specialties. It ranked first in the categories of cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, urology, and orthopedics. It ranked second nationally in pulmonology as well as diabetes and endocrinology.

The rankings were drawn from a pool of approximately 5,000 health care centers across the United States, each of which was surveyed based on quality of care in the 10 pediatric specialties. Rankings were then determined by a mix of patient care outcomes and other relevant factors, including patient safety and hospital staffing.
